Week X Pt II: Categorizing Cookie Blogs

Within every niche is a set of sub-niches. Likewise, above each niche is a layer of super-niches. When people are interested in a subject, they are often interested in either a certain aspect of it or a greater category it belongs to.

So, any good business blog should never focus on one thing in specific, instead seeking depth and breath of content within reason. By ascribing to this philosophy, Mama Sai's Cookies can successfully divide its content into the following categories:

  1. Our Cookies (base niche)
Where better to start than with the product itself? From cars to crackers, everybody wants to know more about what goes into the things they buy. As long as the business is alive and changing, this is an endless source of genuine and relevant discussions. Seeing as it is the core of the business, this is the base niche from which others can be extrapolated. Next, let's take a look at some of the larger niches this one belongs to.
  2. Cooking & Recipes (super-niche)
Talk about endless sources of conversation. For those who are not already loyal to Mama Sai's Cookies, stumbling on one of our blogs about how to cook up Mama's storm is a slippery slope to that loyalty. Once hooked, it is not unlikely they would suffer from the same addiction to our recipes as they would to Tasty's posts.
  3. Nutrition & Health (super-niche)
A primary focus of the company is the strong foundation in health that the Cookies are centered on. This applies to a wealth of larger niches: vegans, fitness buffs, mothers, weight-loss seekers, Celiac sufferers, and so many more. Along a similar vein is the final super-niche Mama Sai's content could focus on:
  4. Sustainable Business Practices (super-niche)
Another core pillar of the business goes hand in hand with the previous: sustainable business practices. Making a cookie that's great for the human should also make something great for the environment. As the company takes certain steps to make sure its impact on the planet is positive, the blog can engage readers with updates and education on the matter.
  5. Cookie Facts (sub-niche)
Meanwhile, for the already obsessed customer, a fun and engaging light subject would be general cookie facts. Blog posts about the cookies themselves can further dive into the history of certain types of cookies, or the science behind making the perfect cookie. This is great content to retarget repeat consumers by re-stimulating their taste buds with mouthwatering facts.
  6. Company Facts (sub-niche)
The About Us section is one of the most visited pages on the site of any business. The great thing about a company's story is that it only ends when the company does, and sometimes still later than that. So long as Mama Sai's Cookies is afloat, there will be a background to remind readers about, and what's more engaging than a true family story?

These six divisions should keep the blog concise and organized while providing for customers from a variety of niches. The accomplishment is providing genuine and valuable content that truly connects to the reader, with the side effect of helping the business grow through exposure and trustworthiness.
